The third grade students took part in a Poetry Café on December 4th in the evening in their classrooms. This was the fourth year third grade teachers held this neat evening full of creative engagement for all participating.
The students had learned about poetry for a few weeks, reading different poems and learning how to write poems such as Haikus and Limericks. They created poetry books with the pieces they had written.
Classrooms were transformed into cozy cafes, and parents were invited to come to the classrooms for an evening of entertainment as students took turns reading some of their original poems.
Families then talked and looked through students’ poetry books as they ate sweet treats and drank hot chocolate.
Excellent work! We can tell you are a creative group of students, third graders.
