Third Grade Students Learn About Chimpanzees and Their Habitat

Third grade students recently had quite a fun nature day after they spent time studying habitats and learning how animals adapt in their habitats.

Students watched Disney’s nature movie “Chimpanzee”, enjoyed a pizza lunch and did various centers in the afternoon relating to chimpanzees.

Among the centers – students played a habitat game; a chimpanzee-calling game; used tools found in nature both to open a peanut and move water from one place to another; and measured their arms, legs, arm span and height to compare themselves size-wise to a chimp.

What fun – and what an exciting way to learn about chimpanzees and their habitat.
