Third Grade Plays a Fun Food Chain Game of Tag!

Tag! You’re It!

Third grade took part in an engaging game of Tag which incorporated what students learned about food chains in Life Sciences.

The kids and teachers split into groups – producers, consumers and decomposers.

The producers were not able to move until a primary consumer (the prey) tagged them. Then, they became a team trying to avoid the secondary consumers (the predators). Once the kids were tagged by a predator, they now had to work together to avoid the decomposers (the third grade teachers). Assistant Principal Mr. Krause joined the fun, participating as a predator. Mr. Krause created the largest team until they were “decomposed”.

Mrs. Hubble reports that the food chain activity was a hit by all! She thinks the students had so much fun playing the game that they forgot they were also learning!
