It’s time again for the Art Show at the Pima County Fair! Here is an important message from Art teachers Mrs. Phelps and Mrs. Paradis about the art our students make at school that may be displayed at the Pima County Fair.
Student artists from schools all over the county show their artwork to the entire regional community. Our school participates every year with hundreds of entries from kindergarten through eighth grade, and every student wins a ribbon!
All kindergarten and first grade students will have art entered in the Pima County Fair, but we become more selective beginning in second grade when students enter the art room.
Each year, we explain to the students in second through eighth grade how we choose the art projects that go to the fair. We don’t focus on talent; rather we emphasize following the guidelines of each project and making a great effort. For example, a very talented student may waste time socializing and hand in a late project. That artwork would not qualify. Also, only finished and clean artworks are chosen. Finally, students must label their art with their name and age.
This year the fair opens April 16th and closes April 26th..
Many, many thanks to the students, teachers and parents who help Mrs. Paradis and Mrs. Phelps make our Pima County Fair Art Show so spectacular!
