Musician Ethan Bortnick Received Your Videos!

Thank you to everyone who submitted a video for Ethan Bortnick. Mrs. Bell spent quite a lot of time recording videos of students telling Ethan why they want him to come to our school to perform in a concert too.

Guess what?  Ethan received the videos, and he used some of them in a promo video he created.  Mrs. Bell received the following email from Ethan’s manager, Ryan!

“Hi Mrs. Bell,

Thank you very much for sharing the videos of your students. They are very bright and adorable. I’d like to share the final version of the edited video with you. (Link Below)

Unfortunately, because of time constraints, I could not put all the kids in the video. However, Ethan would like to do a live Q&A with your class if possible. Please let me know. If so, we can coordinate a date sometime in the near future.

Also, we would appreciate your help in spreading the word about the campaign once it is live.

Here is the video:

Have a wonderful weekend.

Be sure to watch the video. We will keep you updated the latest with Ethan and our school! Congratulations – and a huge thank you – to Mrs. Bell for coordinating this fun opportunity with our students.

Can You Help Bring Musician Ethan Bortnick to TCDS?

Exciting news from Music Teacher Mrs. Bell!

Our second grade music classes learned about Ethan Bortnick a couple of months ago.  He is an amazingly talented young musician, with a natural gift for all things music.  The kids were so inspired by him, that they created a video questionnaire to send to him and we invited him to visit our school.  This was the response we received.

Dear Mrs. Bell’s second grade music class,

Ethan has received your video and would like to thank you for reaching out to him. He looks forward to answering your questions. Currently he is busy with his tour but will make time in the near future to respond.

In the meantime we would like you to know about Ethan’s new school concert series.  Ethan’s goal for this year is to perform a series of free concerts in schools all throughout the United States. So we’re asking students, teachers and parents to submit a short video of themselves, their children or students telling us why they would like to see Ethan live. We’re then going to edit the videos together as part of our crowdfunding campaign. Could you please record and send us videos of yourselves? We look forward to viewing them!

For more information about the concert series please visit

Mrs. Bell would love to see some video responses from you or your kids explaining why they want to see Ethan Bortnick live.  Please send any videos to Mrs. Bell at, and she will forward them on to Ethan’s team.  Mrs. Bell says, “This is an opportunity not to be passed up. Let’s do this!”

Our Music Department Has Exciting Events Coming Up

We hope you can join us for these exciting events coming up in our music department.

On February 28, the members of the TCDS Band and Orchestra will be traveling to Phoenix to perform in the Elementary and Junior High Southern Arizona Solo and Ensemble Festival at Highland Lakes Elementary School.  We will have 25 students performing in six different ensembles – two large ensembles and four small ensembles.  The small ensembles and our band large ensemble are made up exclusively from students enrolled in our seventh and eighth-grade band and orchestra classes.  For our large string ensemble, however, we are joined by some talented younger violinists including third grader Mikayla, fourth grader Sean, and sixth graders Leandra and Savanna.

Fundraiser for band and orchestra

On March 7, four eighth-grade orchestra students from TCDS will participate in the All-State Honor Orchestra at Sahaurita High School.  These students were selected from seven students who were nominated by Ms. Savage.  They will rehearse and perform in an orchestra made up of the best Junior High Orchestra students in the state.  What an honor!  Congratulations to Joshua (violin), Bianca (viola), Sierra (violin), and Jack (string bass).
