Thank you to everyone who helped fill the clothing bins during our clothing drive – what a great way to help the Tucson community!
National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is leading this Big Brothers, Big Sisters (BBBS) clothing drive. We’ve had so many clothes donated, that BBBS came twice a week to pick up items.
Now that they drive is over,we have the final numbers on how much clothing was donated. Our TCDS community collected 1,805 pounds of clothes! Our school receives 20-cents per pound of clothing donated, which makes for $361 raised!
All funds raised during this clothing drive were donated to Youth on Their Own. NJHS members added to the $361 from the club’s account and presented a check for $500 to a Youth On Their Own representative who recently came to school during a middle school flag ceremony. She was very thankful and surprised.
Thank you again to our TCDS families for your generosity donating clothes for such a great cause. Thank you also to NJHS members for putting the drive together.
WOW! A huge thank you to all TCDS families who have participated in the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) clothing drive thus far. A BBBS truck has already come to our school four times to collect donated clothes and empty the barrels.
Our school will receive up to 15-cents per pound of clothing donated. The first three clothing pick-ups weighed in at 400 pounds, another 400 pounds and 5oo pounds. We are waiting to hear how much weight in clothing was collected in the most recent pickup.
A reminder – all clothes that are still in the “Lost and Found” at school on Friday, March 21 will be donated to BBBS for the clothing drive. If your student may have left any clothing at school, please stop by the “Lost and Found” to check for their items before school is out Friday.
Anyone can donate clothes through April 18, the last day of the clothing drive. Extra bags are in the office if you need more to put your clothing into.
Thank you again for all of your donations and help with this wonderful cause!
Our school is teaming up with Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) for a clothing drive that is sure to benefit both BBBS as well as Tucson Country Day School.
A letter explaining the clothing drive – as well as a plastic collection bag for clothes should you choose to donate – will go home with your child today.
If you wish to participate, all you have to do is clean out your closet! If there is used clothing and shoes to donate, you can bring them to school in the collection bag. Collection bags can be placed in one of four white barrels, labeled “Big Brothers Big Sisters”, conveniently located at the front gates for easy access. Donations will be accepted through mid-April.
Anyone who would like a donation receipt to use for income tax purposes can stop by the office to get one. Additional collection bags are available in the front office if more are needed.
There is another bonus in addition to helping Big Brothers Big Sisters while cleaning out closets. Our school will earn up to 15-cents for every pound of shoes and clothing donated. Money earned will be donated to Project Wisdom to support ongoing character development projects at TCDS.
