Come join us for the first SPA meeting of the school year! Ms. Kerry from Preschool will be offering free childcare during the meetings again this year. This first meeting will be held in the multipurpose room (the new building near the lower playground).

What Does SPA Do?
Whether you are new to TCDS, or just don’t know much about SPA, here is a quick list of some of what the Student Parent Association (SPA) does at TCDS:
• Promote fundraising throughout the year to purchase items that enrich our school such as the cold water fountains, bleachers & the marquee sign out front.
• Show our teachers & staff how much they are appreciated by holding special breakfasts, remembering birthdays, & generally taking care of the individuals who shape our children’s future.
• Assist in the dissemination of information to our families.
• Provide funding & support for multiple student programs & performances.
• Support the staff at TCDS.
• Act as a conduit for families to get to know each other, get involved in the school & build on the camaraderie that makes TCDS so special.

Thinking About Volunteering?
We at TCDS have some of the most active parents & grandparents in Tucson! We welcome everyone who wishes to be involved, charge no dues, & offer multiple ways to participate. Whether you are new at volunteering or very experienced, we welcome the opportunity to get to know you better. Want more information? Skate Country Night – Thursday, September 2nd, 6-8pm
Come join us for a great night of fun and fundraising!

Principal’s Coffee for 1st Grade – Friday, September 3rd, 8:40am
Come enjoy some pastries and coffee with fellow first grade parents. Dr. Saliba will be there to get to know you better and answer questions. Meet under the Kindergarten ramada after morning flag.

Dress Down for $1 – Friday, September 3rd
Wear something other than your uniform to school for just $1. Remember students may wear non-uniform clothing as long as it is still appropriate for the school environment. No profanity, bare midrifts, sagging pants, etc. Student Council will use the proceeds for their Pay It Forward project.

Chuck E Cheese Night – Wednesday, September 8th, 4-9pm
Come enjoy a night of fun with fellow classmates. SPA receives a portion of all of your sales at the register. We will also have a raffle for a great prize. The classroom with the most students attending wins an Eegees party.

School Directory Advertising
Have a business you'd like to promote? Consider advertising in the school student directory! Ads cost between $25-$100 depending on size. All TCDS families will receive a directory free of charge sometime in September, so hurry & reserve your space today by either filling out an order form in the office or printing a copy from the school website at http://www.tcdcharterschool.com/support_spa.php

Fall Festival – Coming October 16th
Fall Festival is right around the corner! Ticket prices will be the same as last year, $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Activities this year will include multiple inflatables, two cake walks, pie eating contests, face painting, a rock wall, a decorated pumpkin contest, food, music & lots of fun!

The marketplace area worked so well last year, we’re keeping the same format. Cost is $25 for a 10x10 area. Pick up an order form in the office or print one out from the school website at (http://www.tcdcharterschool.com/support_spa.php) to reserve your space.

Thank you to the many parents who have already volunteered to help. We still need more! Volunteer opportunities include helping with the various carnival events, selling advance tickets, & baking goods for the cake walks. If you are interested, please contact Lori Owen at owentucson@aol.com, or fill out the form online. All volunteers get a free SPA T-shirt.

Recycling Ink Cartridges
Ms. Wanda & Ms. Saundra need your help collecting used ink & toner cartridges. Bring your empty printer cartridges into either the Preschool or Technology rooms & they’ll turn them into much needed supplies for our school! Every ink cartridge recycled gives the school $2-$3 in credit at major office supply stores. Don't throw those cartridges away! Bring them to school & turn them into cash.

The Student Store Wants Your Sunday Coupons!
If you receive the Sunday paper at home or work, please save the coupon section(s) & bring them into the Student Store. Thanks to some amazingly frugal parent volunteers, TCDS will be using these coupons to purchase items for the Student Store at much lower prices, thereby allowing us to offer a greater selection while still keeping the prices low. The coupon booklets will be normally be labeled SmartSource, Redplum, or P&G but any type of coupon is welcome.
