The second grade students learned a lot about horses and American History when they went on a field trip to Trail Dust Town and visited the Soldier Horse Museum recently.
At the Soldier Horse Museum, students learned about horses and their qualifications and standards that allowed them to be in the military. They also learned about horse memorabilia as well as memorabilia from soldiers who had been active in the military and past wars.
Students got to see many items from the past that gave great details of American History. Students even saw a Civil War flag from the Battle of Gettysburg!
After lunch, students had a bit of fun – riding on the merry-go-round at Trail Dust Town, as well as trying out the pretend jail.
Once back at school, students used what they learned at the museum to write an informative paragraph on horses and the American History that they learned while visiting the museum.
