Tucson Country Day School -
Parent Testimonials

What Our Parents Say About T.C.D.S.

"We cannot say enough good things about Tucson Country Day School. We love the spacious campus, the family atmosphere and the commitment to learning. When our two children walk through the gate, they are entering into a learning institution that will challenge their minds while allowing them to grow mentally, physically and emotionally in an environment that cares about them as much as we do."

Amy and Chris Rod
Parents of a 1st and 2nd grader

"We feel the school has made rapid progress toward the future. They have recognized problems and taken every step to correct them. We're hoping they'll decide to take their charter through college!"

Debbie and Robert Ross
Parents of a 2nd and 5th grader

"We switched from Gridley School to TCDS because we felt the smaller class sizes and the focus on respect and discipline fit our son's needs, and provided him with a safer learning environment. We were impressed with the large parent involvement which we feel is an important part of the learning process."

Stacey and Bob Love
Parents of a 7th grader

"We discovered Tucson Country Day School through our realtor when moving back to Tucson from McKinney, Texas. Our oldest child was then a second grader and we also enrolled our kindergartner. Having no preconceived notions of how a charter school should function, we felt comfortable and thought this could work for us. It is now our second year with our children being educated at TCDS and our humble assumptions have been surpassed tenfold. We had no idea how amazing this school is, the ability of each teacher to customized their approach in teaching to fit each child is remarkable. The attitudes and perceptions of each teacher we have encountered is always from the premise of what is the best for the student.

Last year, when our second grader was taking short cuts and not doing her best, the teacher's response was what can I do to help her succeed to her full potential? This sounds like an obvious statement. But to succeed in helping a child to bloom and grow is only possible when a teacher knows, cares and has the skill to create an environment that is inclusive of all students. For myself, that quality of making each student feel exceptional is why we will continue to enroll our children at TCDS."

Amy and Ahmand Ghemrawi
Parents of a 1st and 3rd grader

"As the mother of twins, I especially appreciate Tucson Country Day School's emphasis on the child as an individual."

Regina Oliver
Parent of two children in pre-kindergarten

"We've been at TCDS since the charter school opened. We now have four children enrolled and all are doing well. We've watched the size of the school increase significantly but the same core values that brought us here haven't changed. Class sizes are still small, teachers are still awesome and the family
atmosphere is still in place. We plan to stay for many
years to come."

Cindy and Eugene Kappler
Parents of a pre-kindergartner, 3rd, 5th and 7th grader

I like TCDS because it offers a summer program so
children can stay in their school environment. I also like the way the students come together in the morning and in the afternoon. The school is always growing and open to new ideas. It has maintained the family feeling even with the growth."

Lori Clifford
Parent of a 1st and 2nd grader

"We have been at Tucson Country Day School for four years now. One of the main reasons we like the school so much is the teacher to student ratio. The children get a lot of individual attention from the teachers. The teachers at TCDS have a very positive attitude and my children look forward to school."

Joyce and Mark Chapman,
Parents of a kindergartner and a 3rd grader

This is the first school that my daughter has ever really fit in. The school has made sure that she fits in. The teachers are very professional, highly qualified and extremely nice. They teach beyond what I believe they would be learning in a typical public school. The office staff has done a lot for her. Every child is treated equally and fair. We've never been in a school like that before. We started out in a TUSD school and it wasn't anything like TCDS. We're really happy and we're not going anywhere."

Elaina and Jorge Vasquez
Parents of a 6th grader

"My daughter is in kindergarten. She's learned how to read and is reading on her own. She is getting 100 on her spelling test every week. She can count up to 100 by ones and fives-she started the year only being able to count to twenty. I had planned to pull her and put her in a private school but she's doing so well, I'll save the money for college. I moved my 5th grader from a public school three years ago and he is blossoming."

Angelica and Bob Rockov
Parents of a kindergartner and 5th grader

"I like the freedom the teachers have to teach kids in
their own creative way. The camp like atmosphere
makes it a fun place to come and learn and to be
creative. As a parent, I feel I have more input in my
child's education through the Student/Parent
Association. I am listened to and can see suggestions
being implemented which gives me a feeling of having
more impact at my child's school."

Valerie and Bret Holley
Parents of a 4th grader

"I started TCDS when there were 43 students and my
son had 12 students in his kindergarten class. The staff was wonderful, the campus was encouraged to maintain to the natural outdoors. The ground squirrels were running all over the place with strict instructions not to feed or pet them .My daughter went on health walks in pre-school and howled at the pack of coyotes laying in the cool grass in the ditch on the other side of the fence at the end of the campus.

As we are getting bigger, the school has really tried to
maintain the unity along with the small school feeling.
The standards have been great with respect and
kindness for each person on the campus. Although
uniforms don't make a school, I like the fact they have uniforms.

All the teachers that my children have had over the
years have been wonderful and I would hope others
will be able to benefit from their teaching styles and
personalities. I like the fact that some teachers take
advantage of the natural outdoors and are creative with it, sometimes spending time teaching outside versus a classroom setting.

I am encouraged to volunteer as much as I like (and I
do at least once a week) and I hope that continues as
they get older.

Thank you for having this choice for our children.

Parent of a 2nd and 4th grader
