Our Shadows Help Us Measure the Sun’s Movement

As part of our light study, Ms. Wanda’s Tortuga prekindergarten class traced their shadows so that they could measure the sun’s movement.

The kids helped each other trace their shadows on the stage in the morning.

Later when parents picked their children up, Ms. Wanda reminded her students to take their moms and dads to the stage to see if, based on where their shadows were now, the sun moved!

The kids checked the sun’s movement by standing at the foot of where their shadow was traced in the morning, and they observed that their shadow was now in a different place. That showed the kids that indeed the sun had moved!

Great experiment, prekindergarten students!
