In this week’s “Education News You Can Use” segment on KGUN9’s The Morning Blend, kindergarten teacher Mrs. Culbertson and two of her students talked about the many benefits of independent study – and how even young students are tapping into their creativity as they research and learn while working on independent study projects.
Mrs. Culbertson’s students voted on zoo animals they wanted to learn more about, worked to come up with questions they wanted to find answers for about the animals – and completed a month-long independent study project researching their selected zoo animal. The end results were amazing and very impressive!
Mrs. Culbertson and two students discussed the process of their independent study projects, the benefits of doing projects in this manner, and how independent study can be successful for students younger and older.
