Jane Goodall Study Prompts Excellent Bear Cubs First Grade Writing Work!


Ms. Adrienne is so proud of her 1st grade Bear Cubs!

During Writing Class this week – in the time allotted – all 22 of her students completed an opinion paragraph on the topic of Jane Goodall.

Jane Goodall is a scientist that the students have been studying as part of a unit on Africa.

The writing prompt was: “Would you like to live like Jane Goodall?”

A complete paragraph consists of an opening sentence, three supporting sentences and a closing sentence. Students were reminded to, “Tell them what you’re going to tell them. Tell them. Then tell them what you told them.”

The students are very proud of themselves for their hard work and interestingly, Ms. O’s class was split pretty evenly in their responses.

I would not like to live like Jane Goodall. I would not like to live like her because she lived in Africa. Another reason I would not like to live like Jane Goodall is because she got close to chimps. Also she works outside. That is why I would not like to live like her. ~ Nathaniel
