It’s all about shapes in Ms. Nicole’s prekindergarten class!
The Dragonfly class, along with Ms. Amber’s Elephant class, are learning 2D versus 3D shapes through Engage NY. The students are learning the difference between 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional shapes through hands-on applications using straws and play-dough to build and construct different shapes.
In the following pictures, the students were given a 3-dimensional shape. Then, they were asked to build a structure using four to five blocks to see if their given shape would roll or slide.
“It was absolutely amazing to watch how the children synergized to create their structures,” said Ms. Nicole.
Here’s what some of the students had to say about this great and engaging lesson:
“Ours just slides, but you gotta push it,” said Emilio.
“Oh my goodness, ours rolls so far,” said Brooke.
“Did you see that? It rolls!” said Huxley.
“Mine slides!” said Erin.
