From Algebra…to Architecture

From algebra to architecture – students donned professional attire to present their architecture projects in Algebra class.

Algebra 1 students were put into cooperative groups and given the roles of architect, building inspector and contractor – in an effort to synergize to design plans for their dream home.

  • Students were given requirements for the size of rooms, as well as several rubrics to guide them through the project.
  • The students needed to design a logo for their company and write a real estate listing for their home.
  • In addition, students had to calculate the down payment, insurance and property taxes for the home.
  • Finally, the groups determined the mortgage payment and calculated the total annual income needed to purchase their home.

Algebra 1 teacher Ms. St. Louis says the projects were amazing!

Take a look at these young professionals! Wow, excellent job, students!
