Friendship Day Leads to Fun and Creativity with Functional Text

Fifth grade students in Ms. Annie and Mrs. Maddock’s class celebrated Friendship Day with a fun project that got all minds thinking very creatively.

Students were given a rubric with directions to explain steps for creating a “friendship holder” to share on February 14th. They worked on the project at home last week. The goal: to reinforce functional text skills including following step-by-step directions. Students also really tapped into their creative sides!

Way to go, students! We can tell you had a lot of fun with learning while making your friendship holders.
