Preschool, prekindergarten and kindergarten students were in for a great surprise recently when they spent the morning learning about, feeding, petting and holding many farm animals!
TRAK (Therapeutic Ranch for Animals and Kids) volunteers and employees brought three miniature horses, two goats, many chickens, and quite a few rabbits for the kids to take an up-close look.
The students rotated in 25-minute stations from one group of animals to another. At each station, a TRAK team member discussed the specific animals with the kids. They gave facts about the animals, discussed food they eat and how to care for them, and pet or hold them. The students got to answer some questions about the animals too.
Next up, the students interacted with each of the animals. They fed goats, held chickens, cuddled with rabbits, and even brushed horses’ hair!
The students and teachers had a wonderful time with the animals and learned a lot! Thank you, TRAK, for this wonderful in-school field trip.
