Students “Voice” Radio Ad for Our School!

Have you heard our new advertisement on the 94.9 MIX FM radio station?

We took a trip to the 94.9 studio recently with fifth grade student Ellie and eighth grade student Nate to record our first-ever radio advertisement for the school!

We got to take a quick tour of the studio – which also includes KGUN9 News. Nate and Ellie posed for a picture at the news desk.

We even checked out the room where DJ Marty Bishop was currently playing music on 94.9.

Next up – the recording room! Ellie and Nate practiced their scripts, and we all chipped in on the script editing process!

The many faces of recording…

Nate and Ellie posed with 94.9’s Account Executive Brian and Producer Tristan.

A big thank you to 94.9 MIX FM for this great experience, and a huge thank you to Nate and Ellie for your talent! Listen to 94.9 to hear our school’s ad on the radio!

Leadership Class: Role Models and Student Aides for Younger Kids

You’ll likely see some student-led aiding taking place on campus lately!

Seventh and eighth grade students in the Leadership elective class are enjoying being student aides in elementary classrooms two times a week.

The older students work with younger kids to build their reading skills and act as a great role model. The Leadership students also help teachers organize activities and help in the classroom.

Mrs. Phelps, who teaches the Leadership class, says, “The leadership students work hard too on developing relationships with the younger students while helping with academics. This makes them Champions!”

Way to take charge and demonstrate Champion and Leadership skills! We are proud of you, students!

Student Council “Giving Back” to TCDS

So many of our students take it upon themselves – individually or as a group – to help improve our campus in a variety of ways. Here’s the latest beautification projects…right from our very own Student Council. Thank you, students, for your kindness and generosity! Thank you to Mr. Hubble and Mr. Kirk for leading a great team of students.

A letter from TCDS Student Council:

In keeping with our efforts to be student-led this year, Student Council has come up with and implemented several ways of giving back to TCDS.

We decided that basketball nets in the school colors were needed. We came up with fundraising strategies, raised the money, purchased the nets and presented them to Mr. Hall, the Athletic Director.

We enjoyed doing that so much that we wanted to do it again. So, we looked around at our school and wondered where else we could help. We decided that the door mats in front of our classrooms were wearing thin and needed replacing. From the money we raised, we purchased the needed door mats and replaced them.

We really had a lot of fun giving back to the school. Now we are currently planning more ways to give back to the school and will keep you posted for those.
